Phil Spencer: I Made Some Mistakes That Caused Me to Miss Out on Big Xbox Exclusives

Microsoft's gaming director confirmed Phil Spencer He's made some mistakes in the past when it comes to limiting some games to Xbox, saying that if he hadn't made some bad decisions, games like Destiny and Guitar Hero would now be exclusive to Xbox.

Speaking at an event, PAX West He said Phil Spencer That Bungie was going to sign with Xbox and make Destiny exclusive to the devices at that time, but ended up rejecting the deal, and then the game was launched on all home platforms, and now the entire team is owned by Sony following a previous purchase deal.

The reason for the rejection was not clear as Spencer mentioned, but he said that they compared the game to the Halo series games and found it to be very similar, so the deal was rejected from that perspective. Spencer also mentioned that at the same time that he rejected the Destiny exclusivity, he was not a big fan of PvP shooter games and now that he saw the game's huge success, he admitted that he was wrong to reject the deal and continued:

“I've made some really bad decisions in my career and one of them was turning down the Xbox exclusive for Destiny. Another deal I turned my back on was the Xbox exclusive for Guitar Hero because I didn't think it was right for Xbox and now it's one of the most successful titles in the industry.”

Certainly Microsoft is not the only one who made bad decisions, and there is no doubt that Sony managers made mistakes as well, and this is something that is possible and happens a lot.
